You can also choose to switch the phantom power off or on depending on whether you want the low noise or not. Even if you don’t need the 4 inputs or all of the outputs right now, it will still leave some room to grow once you need more inputs or outputs they will already be there and you wont have to go out and purchase another interface. Otherwise it sounds like crap, compared to today's standard.With 4 inputs and 10 outputs all into a good sized interface this could be the best interface to have for your home setup.

It has an optical S/Pdif in/out(not ADAT-format) so someone could use a high quality channel strip with an optical S/Pdif out to send signal to the computer with the FA-66.

The ADC are not good at all, the DAC are ok. I have an old Edirol FA-66 that works great on an old 2005 Powerbook G4 as well as my new M1 MBA(needs a couple of adapters!!) because it is class-compliant from the start. The 2626 can be used as an eight channel ADAT box. The best you could do is buy the cheapest interface with an ADAT port and configure the 2626 while you still have your Win machine so that each input is sent to the corresponding ADAT output ( one to one).
